On Wednesday April 30, 2008 from
9:00 am till 3:00 pm we
will be hosting a Senior Exemption day at which time we will have
additional help from Will County to help assist senior in filling out
the Senior Assessment Freeze &/or the Senior Citizen Exemption. In
addition to seniors anyone needing help with a Disabled Person Exemption
can also receive assistance.
The 2008 Senior Assessment Freeze
forms will be mailed in on Friday March 28, 2008. Shortly after
this our office will also have forms for those who do not receive them
through the mail.
Starting with the 2007 assessment year more
Illinois veterans and disabled persons will now be eligible for property tax
relief as a result of legislation that was passed into law on October 17, 2007.
Public Act 95-0644 creates three new homestead exemptions for Illinois' disabled
citizens and qualifying veterans. The legislation also expands current
homestead exemptions to provide property tax relief for qualifying Illinois
homeowners and senior citizens. See Exemptions for more details.
